The combined activities of the WAAA partners will work in 13 different
states to register 500,000 new Latino, Asian, and immigrant voters and
reach at least 1,000,000 voters through a comprehensive
Get-Out-The-Vote effort. Take a look at the activities below, or
look at our calendar of events to find activities in your state.
- Focus on citizenship through ESL and citizenship classes and
naturalization application assistance. A coordinated effort is planned
for Sept 20, following National Citizenship Day, when cities across the
country will host naturalization workshops to assist Legal Permanent
Residents in completing their citizenship applications.
- Register new voters at naturalization ceremonies.
- Raise awareness amongst candidates and parties about the
increased voter engagement of the Latino, Asian, and immigrant
communities and the potential impact their votes could have this
election cycle.
- Encourage communities to volunteer to help others to register and
vote and provide information about how to get involved locally.
- Continue to work with the ya es hora campaign to ensure that
voters receive the information they need to be informed about the
process and their rights.
- Make phone calls and knock on doors to encourage the Latino,
Asian, and immigrant communities to get out to vote on Election Day.
- Distribute voting rights information and provide voter protection at the polls on Election Day.
