Democracia U.S.A. is a national non-partisan Hispanic civic engagement program that seeks to increase the prominence and participation of Hispanics in the American democratic process through Empowerment, Leadership Training, and Civic Participation. In 2004, People For the American Way Foundation, in collaboration with the Center for Immigrant Democracy, launched a non-partisan Hispanic voter registration project (now Democracia U.S.A) that became the most successful project of its kind in Florida and among the most recognized in the entire country.

National Council of La Raza
National Council of La Raza

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) – the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States – works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. To achieve its mission, NCLR conducts applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in five key areas – assets/investments, civil rights/immigration, education, employment and economic status, and health. In addition, it provides capacity-building assistance to its Affiliates who work at the state and local level to advance opportunities for individuals and families.

The National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC) was founded as a consortium in 1994 by local community centers that realized that only by coming together can we build and contribute to a national movement for civil rights. They are the Korean Resource Center in Los Angeles, the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center in Chicago and YKASEC - Empowering the Korean American Community in New York.


Our founding was the culmination of the base building work our affiliates had been doing for years in their respective cities. Our mission is to project a national progressive voice on major civil rights and immigrant rights issues and promote the full participation of Korean Americans in American society.

The New York Immigration Coalition
The New York Immigration Coalition

The NYIC was founded in 1987 to mobilize the leadership of New York's immigrant communities in response to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. It has since evolved into a powerful advocacy voice, analyzing the impact of immigration policy proposals, promoting and protecting the rights of immigrants and their family members, improving newcomers' access to services, resolving problems with public agencies, and mobilizing member groups to respond to emerging issues and needs.
