Annual National Asian American & Pacific Islander Presidential Questionnaire Released |
NAKASEC is excited to announce the release of the 2008
National Asian American & Pacific Islander Presidential
Questionnaire, a project that was produced in collaboration with the
National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA). The Presidential
Questionnaire was sent to Senators
Barack Obama and John
McCain with the purpose of using the responses to educate Asian
American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community members across the
country on where the presidential candidates stand on important issues
such as civil rights, education, healthcare, housing and community
development and immigration.

Coalition launches unprecedented civic engagement in Arizona |
Phoenix AZ – On Thursday, July 10, 2008, the Arizona ya es hora coalition, in partnership with the We Are America Alliance, launched an unprecedented, nation-wide civic engagement movement. This Alliance is made up of immigrant rights organizations, ethnically-based organizations, community-based and leadership organizations, and labor all across the country that have joined together in an effort to increase civic participation within immigrant communities. The combined effort of the WAAA partners will register 500,000 new Latino, Asian and immigrant voters nationwide. WAAA partners will work in 13 different states to reach more than 1,000,000 Latino, Asian, and immigrant voters during a comprehensive Get-Out-The-Vote effort. The targets of this effort are young people under 25, newly naturalized citizens and those least likely to vote (infrequent voters). |
