WAAA partners ACORN and Gamaliel have been hitting the pavement hard in Michigan trying to increase the numbers of registered voters.  Counties with a dramatic increase of registrations include Oakland and Wayne Counties.

Michigan serves to be a key state for the 2008 election.  A likely battleground between parties, the people of Michigan will definitely want their issues and votes counted.

Voter Registration Goals of WAAA Partners:

ACORN: 8,000

Gamaliel: 14,289

Total: 22,289

 

The program in Michigan includes the counties of Genesee, Ingham, Kalamazoo, Kent, Macomb,Oakland and Wayne. ACORN and Gamaliel have taken the lead in identifying 42,113 new potential voters with the largest saturation in Oakland and Wayne counties.

WAAA has been working with these local groups to ensure that the immigrant community is included and counted in this fast paced election season.  All counties, with the exception of Oakland, are hitting saturation in their voter egistration goals.
